What's This About?

I'm a passionate traveller and photographer, organising several trips to Africa every year in order to discover the local culture and nature. The main benefit of this unforgettable experience is aiding a local orphanage. Join a group of 8 - 12 travellers and change not only your life but those of African children as well. It's worth it! Read More >>

About Jakub's Journeys

Passion #1 - Photography

They say if you make a living off of what you love, you’re a happy man. Well myself, I am a shining example. I work as a photographer and I love my job. I can’t possibly imagine doing anything else. The moment when it’s just me and my camera in the right time at the right place and I can literally feel the right picture in the air is something I lack the words to describe. And I travel all across the globe for such moments. I have taken pictures of nature and wildlife in over thirty countries on three continents.

My articles and travel photographies have been already published in several respected Czech magazines, such as Xantypa or Koktejl, and I also was approached by National Geographic editors, for an article about the beautiful sights of Ireland. My photographs have been awarded in international photography competitions, exhibited in museums in the USA and are often seen in private collectors’ collections in both Europe and the United States. In 2014, my work was also represented in the book International Masters of Photography, USA.

Passion #2 - Travelling

It’s probably obvious from the previous article but my second passion, creating a perfect combination with photography is travelling. I live to discover new countries and places, to meet new people and new cultures. I’m genuinely happy there are still authentic places left in this world - unique and not so well known - because these are the ones worth discovering and making pictures of the most. For those who seek above comfort and all-inclusive services the world can still be beautiful and exciting, you can trust me…

Passion #3 - Africa

How can anyone love travelling with a camera this much and not fall for Africa? Wild, fragrant, colourful and so diverse? I can’t possibly think of anyone who would keep cool by  untamed Africa. Maybe it’s gonna impress you, maybe even overwhelm but one way or another, it will offer you intense experience. It’s going to engulf you, as it did me… I want to share all those feelings with you and now, you can live them through Jake's Journeys, to which this entire website is devoted.

Currently, we’re planning to travel to the South African Republic. There, we’ll visit the most beautiful sights of the KwaZulu Natal region. Many of them are still undiscovered by tourists. We’ll learn the customs and culture of the Zulu tribe. We’ll listen to indigenous songs sung by a bonfire. On our journey to a photographic Safari to see the “Big five” (elephant, buffalo, rhino, lion and leopard) we’ll also visit the well-renowned beaches by the Indian ocean.

We’ll head out to the Drakensberg - a tiny state in the heart of the SAR, into the mountain kingdom of Lesotho, often reffered to as the roof of Africa. We’ll also see, how does beer taste in 3000 m above sea level, in the highest located pub in the entire continent. Along with a guide and a translator, we’ll head out to foot safari in a safe location with a abundance of antelopes, zebras, gnus, wild boars and many other riches of Africa’s flora and fauna.

And on top of it all, open human hearts

I’m one of the lucky few, who do what they love for a living. That is why, some time ago, I appreciated the opportunity to do something positive for those, who I meet on my travels and who weren’t as fortunate.

During my time in South Africa, I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs Heather Reynolds, who’s been running the God’s Golden Acre orphanage for over twenty years now. Some ten years ago, Mrs Reynolds has decided to cooperate with travellers and travel agencies from all around the world, in order to improve the orphanage’s economic options. She opened her own travel agency Travel Bugs International LLC and in 2014, she reached out for someone who would help her to organise and lead photography workshops for her clients from all Europe. This marked the beginning of our cooperation. To those brave enough to set out with me, Mrs Reynolds will bring uncommon lifelong experiences, thanks to her vast knowledge of the local surroundings. It’s also going to economically help the local children growing up in her orphanage and increase their chances of leading a calm and satisfactory life. Open human hearts are a beautiful addition to all the traveling and photography experiences, won’t you say?
